What is "SNS" ? What are Text Messages?

“SNS” stands for “Simple Notification Service”. SNS is a way for you to reach your users/ students through mass text messages. You will be able to reach them by sending texts from the OASIS system to your user’s mobile devices. This service is possible by using our”shared” service on OASIS or you can opt to use a private account (Using a private account can be cheaper along with more direct access to our SNS system. It can also get you access to various upgraded features). 

There are some stipulations to sending text to your users. 

1. Text can only be 128 characters ( We call these “SEGMENTS”)

2. You can have multiple “segments” (you will be charged for each addition segment in the message)

3. Your OASIS SNS account  provides you 1000 free messages per month (after that is 0.02 cents per text)

If you are  encountering a high volume of text messages you might want to consider these options for private accounts:

• clickSend (https://clicksend.com/)

• Twilio (https://www.twilio.com/) 

Private accounts also allow you the option  to use “Multi-Media Notification Services” or MMS messages
